*sighs* ZOMG drama here at home. On Tuesday morning, we get woken up at 4am by someone leaning on the doorbell. My mum had left a candle burning in the downstairs toilet and had forgotten about. It had fallen over and burnt though the wooden shoe rack and taken out the boiler. We were really lucky that the neighbours were going to the airport and saw the flames and woke us up. The room is now completely gutted and there's loads of smoke damage in the rest of the hall and upstairs. We've been hotels since Tuesday night and still have no gas.

So if you don't have smoke alarms, go get them now. The fire department here in the UK will fit them for free and you really don't have an excuse.

Oh lor'. I'm shattered. I go back to work after a two day strike and don't leave until 6:45. I just want to sleep. So I think I am just to curl up in bed and watch Xena - which arrived on Tuesday. And tomorrow, I have loads of work to do. I have a pile of books which are knee high to start reading for my assignment. But my summer school is in two weeks! Wheee!

I have just got in from my dad's allotment where I failed at stopping him from pilfering someone else's rhubarb. *facepalm* I did disapprove. But ours won't be ready till next year as we planted it a bit late. But we had yummy new potatoes and beetroot form the allotment for tea yesterday.

And I have to go to the shop now to get some spuds so I can make a potato salad for a barbeque later on today! Woohoo!

I'm planning to go off on holiday in October after my exam and want to go to Germany/Austria/Switzerland. I know I have a couple of native German speakers and other well travelled sorts on my flist. Could you recommend me somewhere to go in mid to late October for someone to go to mooch and do a city break type of place.

You know how sometimes people on your friend's list post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute? Since when are they working THERE? And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you *should* already know?
